Recipe: Tequila Lime Barbeque Pizza

This unique pizza gets zesty southwestern flair from the Freakshow Tequila Lime Barbeque Sauce, with flavors of tequila, lime, smoky barbeque, jalapeño and cilantro. The tangy-sweet sauce both sauces the bottom and gets drizzled over the top for double the flavor. Loaded with chicken, peppers, and melty cheeses, every slice packs a flavor punch!


Ingredients:

-1 pound pizza dough, at room temperature

-1 cup Freakshow Savory Sauces Tequila Lime Barbeque Sauce, divided

-1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

-1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

-1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, cooked and shredded

-1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

-1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (deseeded for less heat if desired)

-2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

-2 tablespoons crumbled queso fresco or feta cheese

-Lime wedges, for serving


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Prepare a pizza pan or baking sheet by lining with parchment paper or a pizza stone.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to the prepared pizza pan/baking sheet.
  3. Using a spoon or brush, spread 1/2 cup of the Tequila Lime Barbeque Sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border for the crust.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella and pepper jack cheeses. Sprinkle half of the cheese mixture over the sauced dough.
  5. Top with the shredded chicken, sliced red onion, jalapeño slices, and remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is crispy and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove pizza from oven and drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of Tequila Lime Barbeque Sauce over the top in a zig-zag pattern.
  8. Sprinkle with fresh chopped cilantro and crumbled queso fresco.


Slice and serve the tequila lime barbeque pizza immediately, with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
